Nativity of the Theotokos

Writer's picture: Fr. Thomas ColyandroFr. Thomas Colyandro

On this feast of the birth of the Mother of God, we are reminded to seek Mary's help, protection, and comfort each and every day. For she, by giving entirely of her body, mind, and spirit, interceded for us and constantly restores in us faith, hope, and love.

"Your Nativity, O Virgin,

Has proclaimed joy to the whole universe!

The Sun of Righteousness, Christ our God,

Has shone from You, O Theotokos!

By annulling the curse,

He bestowed a blessing.

By destroying death, He has granted us eternal Life."

- Troparion of the Feast of the Nativity of the Theotokos
