Life of St. Joseph the Hesychast the Movie

St. Joseph the Hesychast was a monk and elder on Mount Athos. He died on August 15, 1959, and in October 2019, the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople officially recognized Elder Joseph and four other holy monks, Elder Hieronymus of Simonopetra, Elder Daniel and Ephraim of Katounakia, and Elder Sophrony of Essex, as saints of the Holy Orthodox Church. St. Joseph was the spiritual father or grandfather of Elders Ephrem of Philotheou, Joseph of Vatopedi, Charalampus of Dionysiou and others.


This movie was produced, written, and edited by the Holy Monastery of Vatopedi. It stars actor Jonathan Jackson. The documentary won four awards from the jury at the London Greek Film Festival. More information can be found at IMDB.
